and customers, I offer through our
page the recipe for homemade sweet orange that they like so much.
Sweet
Orange (Homemade)
Ingredients:
Get enough oranges so that when sliced to fit a large pan in double
rows and 3 kg of sugar. (about 6.5 lbs)
We
use oranges of a variety that here in Greece are called "Merlin".
We rub the skin, ever so slightly and then we boil them in water
until they become soft and you can prick them with a fork. When
they are done we pour cold water to take the bitter taste away and
to cool them donw. We do this a couple of times.
Then
we cut them in slices and arrange them in the pan in rows and dust
them with sugar. Let them sit like this all night.
The
next morning we boil the sugar in the jiuce that is left in the
pan. When it starts boiling we throw in the oranges and we let them
simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Take the mix of the fire and let
it cool down. Repeat the boiling process and add some vanilla. Let
it sit overnight.
The
next day just put it in glass jars.
